Hi all! Today I'm sharing my take on this 3D Book Card featuring Bookworm Squidgy and and extra sentiment from Reading Gnome. I came across this card on YouTube and adapted it to inches, and to the size I wanted. The card when closed, is 6" x 6".
Supplies:
Reading Gnome rubber stamp set (inside sentiment)
Card
Designer paper (used: Carta Bella, Flower Garden)
Ruler, pencil and scissors
Scoring board and bone folder
Adhesive
Stitched and Scalloped circle dies
Rectangle dies
How to:
Cut out using a stitched circle die. Before removing the die, ink around the image using a stencil and distress oxide inks.
Cut a larger scalloped circle and mat behind the image circle.
For the card, cut one each of:
6" x 12" - score at 6" on the long side
5" x 11.25" - score at 5-5/8" on the long side
5" x 10.5" - score at 5.25" on the long side
5" x 9.75" - score at 4-7/8" on the long side
Fold all the card pieces in half and crease the score lines.
For the patterned paper layers, cut 2 each of:
5-7/8" x 5-7/8"
4-7/8" x 5-3/8"
4-7/8" x 5-1/8"
4-7/8" x 4.75"
Adhere the paper to the inside of each layer.
For the 3D mechanism, cut 2 each of:
1" x 5" card - score at 1", 2.5", and 4"
7/8" x 2-7/8" patterned paper
Adhere patterned paper between the 1" and 4" score lines. Fold on the 2.5" score line and burnish with a bone folder.
Cut on the 0.25", 0.5", and 0.75" marks, cut up to the 0.5" horizontal line. Trim the edge of each cut line to make approx. 1/8" slit. This will allow the layers to move smoothly.
Apply adhesive to the outside of the 1" sections on each end. Adhere at the top of the 6" square card base as shown. Fold over the front of the card base and press down firmly to secure the mechanism.
Insert the layers into the slits, starting with the largest at the bottom and working to the smallest at the top.
Take the other mechanism, slide the layers into it and then adhere the 1" sections to each side of the score line.
Open the book card up and adhere Bookworm Squidgy on one side. Adhere the sentiment from Reading Gnome on the other side.
*Optional, as this card is displayed open*
Decorate the front with some paper and the sentiment from Bookworm Squidgy
