Double Concertina Card Tutorial | Stamping Bella

Today I'm sharing a tutorial for a Double Concertina Card that I made for Stamping Bella. I love adapting and tweaking cards I've seen across social media and this one I've wanted to try for a while. It's a quite easy card to make, but it's time consuming the first time, and there are lots of steps. 

I recently purchased some fantastic papers from Piatek Trzynastego (translated it means Friday the 13th! lol). The collection I used was Awakening. When I saw the vespa on the papers I knew I had to use Uptown Girl Vienna and her Vespa on the card. 

Supplies:

Uptown Girl Vienna and her Vespa rubber stamp

Card

Papers

Rectangle die (approx 4.25" in length)

Pencil

Craft knife

Embellishments

How to:

For the card base cut one piece of white card measuring 10" x 6"", one piece measuring 10.5" x 6" and one piece measuring 11.75" x 4"  

Score the 10.5" x 6" piece at 5" and 10"

Score the 10" x 6" piece at 5" 

Score the 11.75" x 4" piece at 0.5", 2", 5 7/8", 9.75" and 11.25"

Fold the outer 2 sections mountain position and fold the 5 7/8" score line in the valley position.

Fold the other 2 pieces on the 5" scoreline. Both pieces will be connected by the 0.5" section later.

For the layers cut:

Card layer:

4x  5/78" x 4 7/8" (inside panels)

2x  5.75" x 4.75" (front and back)

2x  37/8" x 3.75" 

2x  3 7/8" x 1 3/8"

Paper layer:

4x  5.75" x 4.75" (inside panels)

2x  5 5/8"" x 4 5/8" (front and back)

2x  3.75" x 3 5/8" 

2x  3.75" x 1.25"

Adhere the middle panel card and paper layers together. Don't adhere them to the card base.

Place the rectangle die in the centre of the panel and run through a die cutting machine.

Lay on top of the other panel and use a pencil to mark the position of the rectangle and cut out using the die.

Adhere the panels down. Position the die into the rectangle cut out and cut run through the die cutting machine to remove the centre of the card base.

Apply double sided tape to the 0.5" strip and adhere both pieces of the card base together.

To make a frame for the 'windows', use the same die you used to cut out the centre and a slightly bigger die. Secure them on the card using washi tape and cut.

Adhere the frames around the windows

Adhere all the layers of card and paper to the 11.5" piece of card.

To make it easier to feed through the slit in the paper, cut a  small wedge from each end.

Adhere the card layer to the first inside panel.

Position the paper over it but do not stick it down. Fold back the 2 smaller sections on the 11.5" piece and line the edge of the third section to the edge of the card layer - positioning it across the card so that there is an equal gap on the top and bottom of the window.

Carefully flip over the mechanism without moving the paper layer or the position of the mechanism itself. With a pencil, mark at the top and bottom of the 0.5" scoreline.

Cut an opening in the paper from one pencil mark to the other, then move out approx 1/16th of an inch and make another cut - remove the piece. Repeat this with the paper layer for the other end of the card before you stick anything down.

Push the 0.5" section through the paper, turn over and apply double sided tape to the under side.

Remove the tape backing and fold down.

Apply wet glue to the back of the paper layer and adhere down.

Slide the mechanism though the mountain folded centre panels.

Again, push the 0.5" piece though the paper and secure at the back before adhering the paper down.

This is how the card should look.

Stamp Vienna onto white card and colour using your desired medium.

Assemble the front panel and decorate as desired.

Stamp the setiment onto white card and cut out using a stitched rectangle die.

Adhere to the inside panel and embellish

Adhere the layers to the back of the card.

Adhere the card front down onto the card base. 

This card is quite bulky when folded but can be mailed out in a card box or bubble mailer.

Graduation Cap Card Tutorial | Stamping Bella

Hi all. Today I'm sharing a Stamping Bella tutorial on how to make a Graduation Cap Card, featuring Uptown Girl Grace the Graduate. With schools all finishing up for summer it's the perfect card, and works for all ages. 

Supplies:

Uptown Girl Grace the Graduate rubber stamp

Uptown Girl Grace the Graduate CUT-IT-OUT Die

Celebrate sentiment Dies set

Black card

Packing card

Patterned papers

Bakers Twine

Scoring board and bone folder

Ruler and pencil

Notes: 

*If you are using standard A4 size card, the base will measure 5-7/8" square. This is the size used for the tutorial. Instructions for 12" x 6" will be included in italics. 

*For the purpose of the tutorial, the instructions will be done using white card as it's easier to see. Once the base of the card was completed I switched it to the black base. 

How to: 

Cut a piece of A4 card on the short side at 5-7/8". On the long side, score at 5-7/8" and 9". 

(For the 6" base, cut the card at 6" x 12" and score at 6" and 9")

Fold on the 5-7/8" score line to halve the base and then fold on the 9" score line to make the easel shape. 

(For the 6" base, fold on the 6" score line and then the 9")

On the inside, with the 9" scoreline at the bottom, measure across the middle of the card at 2-15/16" and mark with a pencil. (For the 6" base, mark at 3")

Measure up on each side and mark at 2- 15/16" with a pencil 

(For the 6" base, mark at 3" on each side)

Score diagonally from the 2-15/16" mark on the side, down through the centre pencil mark and down to the 9" score line. Repeat on the opposite side. 

(This is the same for the 6" card - score diagonally from the 3" pencil marks down to the 9" scoreline, going through the 3" centre pencil mark")

On the bottom of the base, mark the centre (2-15/16") with a pencil. 

(For the 6" base, mark at 3")

Cut diagonally from the 9" scoreline in to the centre pencil mark.

Valley fold the diagonal score lines, and mountain fold the 5-7/8" (6") score line pushing it inwards. 

Fold the top down entirely to create the graduation cap shape, and burnish the scorelines well.

Cut a piece of card measuring 4.75" and another piece measuring 4.25". 

Open the card up and apply glue to the front section below the 9" score lines.

Adhere the 4.75" piece of card to the front, lining up the points on the card base with the points on the piece of card.

Adhere the 4.25" piece of card on top using foam tape to give it dimension.

Cut a piece of white card measuring 5.75" x 2.75" and adhere on the card base, just below the spring mechanism. 

(For the 6" base, cut at 5-7/8" x 2-7/8")

Add a strip of designer paper for decoration (optional)

Create the stopper for the easel by cutting some black card at 5.5" x 1.75", white card at 5.25 x 1.5", and some paper at 5"x 1.25" 

(measurements are the same for the 6" card)

Using the largest of the Celebrate sentiment dies, cut one from black card and the other from lightweight chipboard. Adhere both together, black on top.

Adhere to the easel stopper.

Apply foam tape to the stopper.

Bring the front of the card up to where it's touching off the spring mechanism behind it and adhere the stopper down so that it holds the 'cap' in place.

For the cap button, cut a 1" circle and a 0.75" circle, and adhere them together.

Using bakers twine, make a tassel with a 2" string loop

Position the tassel as desired and, using foam tape, adhere the button on top to secure it. Apply wet glue or use a glue gun to secure the end of the tassel to the edge of the card.

Stamp Grace the Graduate onto white card, colour and cut out using either the coordinating die, or a scissors. 

Decorate the front of the card as desired. To create the scroll, cut a piece of paper approx 1.5" x 2". Roll up into a tube shape and use glue to secure the end. Wrap a piece of paper around it and cut into a ribbon shape.

Use the card base as a guide to create a white layer for the back of the card. Stamp the the sentiment and adhere using wet glue or double sided tape.
