Basic Grey Challenges - Clean & Simple

Hi everyone! Well it's time for a new challenge over on Basic Grey Challenges and this time it's a challenge that made me cry, scream and run for cover... yes, it's CLEAN & SIMPLE!! :/

There was nothing for it only to pull on the big girl panties and banish all thoughts of embellishments.. and, in the end, this is what I came up with.

I used a purple card base and layered some white card onto it. Then I used Basic Grey Plumeria 6x6 papers for the background papers and the pennants. The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps' Compact Sentiments.

Papers - BasicGrey

Remember, to qualify for the prize you MUST use some Basic Grey! I have mixed both Indie Bloom and Out of Print 6x6 paperpads.

The sweet image is from The Stamp Fairy and it was originally coloured up for the last Colour Me Creative Challenge, which was Colours of Love, but with being away at the CHA convention I didn't get to make my card. I would be just SUCH a shame to waste it!

My image is from Some Odd Girl and she's called Alice Mae. I've coloured her with copic markers and added some Star Dust stickles to her dress.

Basic Grey Challenges - Mix 'n' Match & DT Whiff of Joy

Good morning and happy Saturday. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Hubby has abandoned me for The Footman James Classic Motor Show at the NEC in Birmingham so I think it will be a movie day for myself and the little ones :) :) :)

Today we have a new challenge over on Basic Grey Challenges and it's themed

MIX 'N' MATCH.

We want you to mix up your Basic Grey collections on your creation. I find this a great way to use up those few leftover sheets you tend to have in each pack  and I have mixed Wassail with Jovial on my card.

My sweet image is one of the new release stamps for November from Whiff of Joy as is called Penguin's First Snow. I have coloured him with Copic markers and added Star Dust Stickles to his hat, and to the snow, for added sparkle. My card fits the theme over on Whiff of Joy Challenges, which is Let it Snow,  so I'm entering into their challenge.

Basic Grey Challenges & Quixotic Paperie

Good morning afternoon! It's still pretty dark and dismal here - the kind of weather that zaps your energy and enthusiasm for doing much of anything except snuggling up in front of the fire with the kiddos, watching kiddie movies and drinking hot chocolate- all I need now is a log cabin on a snow-capped mountain and I've got my own little fairytale, lol. We can but dream...

Onto my card for today, which is a double up DT card for Basic Grey Challenges with the theme Hallween/Fall and Quixotic Paperie Inspirations.

This little guy is called Leif Monster and my papers are Basic Grey's Mellow

I coloured my image and shaded the background with copics and used nestabilities to cut out the circle/scalloped circle. The matching sentiment comes with the stamp.

I also used the sketch from the very first Quixotic Paperie sketch challenge when creating my card. Have you entered??? Don't forget - a random winner will receive a £15 prize to use at Quixotic Paperie! You can find the post HERE.

I do hope you're sitting comfortably....

.. because guess who's playing catch up a-gain! One or other of my kiddos has been sick since last Wednesday and although I am getting some crafty time, blogging time is limited! So while hubby is amusing the latest casualty to the virus picking on my family I am blogging quickly and trying not to get sidetracked :)

Oh, and of course it's never a completed week without some form of a drama like.. say... the memory card in your camera dying right after you photo a whole tutorial.... won't go there right now!

Soooooo, I have a *few* cards to share....

First up - Color Me Creative
Man this is late, there are only a few more days left on this challenge, which is Vintage/Distressed. The Prize for the winner of this challenge (randomly chosen) will get 3 Magnolia Stamps of their choice from Magnolia-licious and 1 pack of Cryogen Cardstock.

And each month one winner is chosen to receive a $50 gift certificate from OOZAK.

As you may or may not know, Suzanne {owner of Colour me Creative} runs online copic classes filled with wonderful tips and techniques. However, if you want to learn to colour using your copics and live near San Jose, CA you could be lucky enough to be able to attend one of Suzanne's classes. There are only a couple of spaces free on October 22nd and 23rd. Click here for more information. I so wish I lived close enough :(

I am entering this card into the following challenges -
Just Magnolia - Anything goes with option of coffee and cream
Crafty Cardmakers - Anything Goes
Heart Song Inspirations - Use Die Cuts and/or Sponged Backgrounds
Karens Doodles  - Distress It
Simon Says Stamp and Show... - Things with Wings
Woodware USA - Anything Goes
The Crafty Pad  - Vintage

**********************************

I tell ya I got very excited when I saw the new stamps for October on Whiff of Joy. I ADORE Norma Fickle's Gnomes!!

This one is called From Heaven Above. I've coloured with copic markers and sponged the background. I made the holly leaf tab using the Banners Trio dies.

The papers are from My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Christmas 6x6 paper pad. I added some stardust Stickles to the wings - no wings are complete without it :)

This next image is called A Boy and his Star. Again, I used copic markers and created my background by adding little dots around the image.

I have no clue what brand the papers are, I bought a bunch of loose 6x6 sheets. I added some blue organza ribbon, blue bakers twine and a winter charm for embellishment.

Challenges -
I Did It Creations - Anything Goes
Little Claire's - Christmas
One Stop Craft - Anything goes

*****************************************

- Just One of Those Days!

This card is one I made for Quixotic Paperie,  using one of Kraftin' Kimmie's wonderful stamps - Angry Ballerina.

The background stamp is by Paper Makeup Stamps and the papers are from My Mind's Eye, Lost and Found - Rosy collection. I coloured my image with copic markers and added some star dust Stickles to the frill on her dress. Then finished off with pearls, Cherry Red bakers twine and a punched butterfly for embellishment.

Challenges -
Secret Crafter - Anything goes as long as it sparkles
Sweet Stampin - 2E, must Stamp - In stitches
Inspire Me Fridays - Always anything goes

*******************************
And last, but not least -
- Nursery Rhymes/Fairy Tales

For my card I used one of Tickled Pink Stamps' images - Mad Hatter. My papers are Basic Grey Little Black Dress.

The 'Admit One' stamp is from Tim Holtz. I had lost it, but it turned up stuck to the side of my clear copic marker storage, lol. The 'Believe' disc is also from Tim Holtz's collections and the clock charm is one I picked up at the NEC last year.

I do believe that's it! lol. If you are still with me, thank you for sticking it out.

Back tomorrow with my card for the Swimming for Katie Fundraising 3 Day Blog Hop.
Have a great day
