You Really are the Sweetest | Copic Marker Europe

Hi all. Today I'm sharing the tutorial I did for Copic Europe Blog, which is a  technique known as underpainting - using greys and blues to create a base under subsequent layers of colour. The stamp set I'm using is Your Favourite Icecream from Create a Smile Stamps.

I stamped all the elements of the ice cream separately for dimension, but another option is to use masking paper and layer them as one piece. I used Perfect Copic Paper and Memento black ink.

For the underpainting I started with C1 to mark out where I wanted to lay the shadow

I applied some C3 and then B41 to create my darker areas.

Once the underpainting is done I coloured the ice cream red, yellow and brown.

For the cone I used E53, E55 and E21.

When I had my marker work done I used pencils to add fine detail and highlights.

On the red layer I used a chalk marker to add white sprinkles.

I popped the icecream up on foam tape on the front of the card and added a sentiment.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you are inspired to colour something today.

You are Wheely Wonderful | Create A Smile

Hi! Today I'm sharing a card I made for the current Create a Smile mood board challenge.

First though - I haven't been very active on social media for most of April and May and some of my good friends have been messaging to check in on me, so I am throwing in a quick update at the bottom of this post, if you care to read it :)

So, this is my card. I used some of the stamps I bought from the last Create a Smile release and hadn't gotten around to using - this is why I love challenges! This stamp set is called Ting-a-ling and includes six different options for the basket filler and four sentiments. I used the colours from the mood board as inspiration for my card.

Copic Markers used:
BG45, BG53, BG57, BG09
R01, R22
RV55, RV63, RV66
E50, E51, E53
C3, C5, C7

For the background I used a clouds stencil and Tumbled Glass distress oxide ink.

Other products used:
Card - Papermilldirect
Papers - Clearly Besotted Stamps
Clouds Stencil - La-La Land Crafts

***********************************************

April is always a crazy month for me. For the past four years I've had April college exams so I get very little time to make cards and to be active on my blog or on Instagram. I finish my exams around the third week of April and then spend a few days just resting my brain. I would usually Insta most of my cards, but I'm not so good when it comes to blogger, lol.

Anyway, the Covid-19 restrictions have been hard on me, and I know I'm not alone in this. I am your typical introvert so keeping my own company has never been an issue. As an introvert though, I need time away from people - to recharge, to be in my own head, and that just hasn't happened - and it won't happen for the foreseeable future. The last time my daughter was in school was February 28th, and then the schools/colleges closed for everyone on March 13th. My husband is also working from home. When one of us goes out walking, we all go.

I have been colouring, A LOT, and I have been making lots of cards but it's hard to be 'social' when your head is in turmoil and you constantly feel stressed. Even though restrictions have been relaxed a little, the risk of catching Covid-19 is still there so we're still not going out for now.

We will all get through this, history has shown us that, but whether we'll come out of it a different people is the question. We've lived nearly three months with no coffee shops, no hair/nail appointments, no takeouts, and no shopping trips just for the sake of going shopping, BUT, we're also exercising more, eating better (for the most part) and spending time with our immediate family. I can't claim to be spending less, because my teenagers are determined to eat me out of house and home.

So, yes, I'm fine. I'm struggling, but I know you can all relate and we're all going through this together. Thanks to those who checked in on me, you're awesome and I'm lucky to have such good friends.

Hippity Hoppity | Create a Smile Stamps

Hi everyone.
Today I am sharing a card I made for the current Create a Smile Stamps mood board challenge.

This is the Mood Board

The card is a hand designed chalkboard easel card. Not sure I completely nailed it, but I like it. I took many elements from the Mood Board when designing the card. The little tag is from the Cool Cuts Lovely Tags XS set.

You are Awesome | Create a Smile Stamps

Hi everyone. Today I am sharing a tutorial I have over on the Copic Europe blog. The tutorial shows a very popular technique for using Copic markers with distress oxide inks, to make a great background while still only having one layer.

The stamps I've used are Eggstraordinary Egghunt from Create A Smile Stamps. I'm also using Memento black ink and Perfect Colouring Paper.

To prepare I first stamp the images onto masking paper and cut them out.

Then I stamp my image onto the colouring paper and cover it with the masking paper.

I stamped and masked the bunny and the chick and then stamped the lamb, so he will be partially behind the other images. Layer and mask the images in whatever order you want.

Once all the images are stamped cover them all with the masking paper.

Secure the colouring paper to the mat/table by using low tack tape on the bottom and sides below the image, then secure a piece of card across the images, just down to the feet. Using a blending tool or brush, apply oxide inks.

When the background colours are done to your liking, and before you remove the masking paper, splash a little bit of water and blot it to make the spotted effect.

Remove all the masking paper and begin colouring the images.

For these images I started with the darkest colour around the outside and worked inwards to the lightest colour.

Chick - Y17, Y15, Y13, Y11. YR18, YR14, YR02
I added some dots for texture after I took the photo.

Pig - R32, R22, R21, R20, R00

Lamb - N3, N1, R01, 0

Bunny - B04, B02, B01, B00, C3, C1
I also used the B01 to colour in where the ink was missing around the images.

Finally I added some shading underneath the animals to ground them
W3, W1, 0

Stamp the sentiment and mount the image onto a card base using foam tape.

Products used:
Copic Markers
Eggstraordinary Egghunt clear stamps
Perfect Colouring Paper
Distress Oxide Inks - Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar, Pickled Raspberry, Scattered Straw.
Card - Papermilldirect.

You are Eggstraordinary | Create a Smile Stamps

Good morning and happy Saturday! Today marks the first calendar day of Spring (but looking out the window, you'd be forgiven for thinking it's Winter 😒)

After winning the Create a Smile challenge last month I had the pleasure of being guest designer for their current challenge. You can find the challenge post HERE. Today I am sharing another card and this time it's my entry into the current mood board challenge, lol.

The set I used is called Eggstraordinary Egghunt. Four fun characters to mix and match.

To create the background I used a brick embossing folder and painted on some distress oxide inks. then I splashed the same colours around the card. I used copic markers to colour the critters, fussy cut them, and layered them using foam tape. The brick panel is mounted on foam tape too so there is loads of dimension on this card.

I have another card on the go using these guys and some masking paper! So many ideas, so little time, lol

Have a great day!
